Within it are chambers like houris, already carpeted;
In it are gatherings like maidens who recline
Within them are gardens, though no rain has fallen there.
On carpets though no rain has moistened the meadows

مثلَlike المَرائيthe mirrors يُرىare seen فيin مائِهاtheir water الصُّورُthe images
To roofs whose cornice you see aglow,
Onto terraces you see its tiles glistening eastwards
Like mirrors, with images visible in their water.
Like mirrors in whose reflection forms appear
كَأَنَّماas though خَفِرَتthey grew bashful مِنfrom طُولِthe length of time ماthat لُحِظَتthey were gazed at
فَقَدso indeed تَعدَّىspread إِلىto إبهَائِهاtheir halls الخَفَرُbashfulness
As though they had grown bashful from being gazed at so long,
As though from being watched so long it has blushed
So bashfulness has spread to their halls.
So bashfulness has spread over its beauty's guards
وَقبةٌand a dome ماnot لَهاfor it فيin حُسنِهاits beauty ثَمَنٌa price
لَوeven if أَنَّهُthat it فيهاfor it العزglory وَالعُمُرُand life
And a dome whose beauty is beyond price,
A dome whose beauty is beyond any price
Even if that price were glory and life.
As if in it lie glory and life everlasting
كَأَنَّماas though فُرِشَتit was carpeted بِالوَردِwith roses مُتَّصِلاًcontinuously
فيin الفرشthe carpeting فاتُّخِذَتso were fashioned مِنهُfrom it لَهاfor it أزرُwaist-wraps
As though it were carpeted with roses, spread unbroken
As if it is lined with a carpet of unending roses
Through the carpeting, from which waist-wraps were fashioned for it.
Whose warp and weft are fashioned out of them
كَأَنَّماas though ذُعِرَتit was terrified مِنfrom خَوفِfear سَقطَتِهاits fall
فيin بَحرِهاits sea فَبَداso appeared فيin لَونِهاits color الذعُرُterror
As though it had been terrified by the fear of falling
As if it shook for fear it might slip and fall
Into its sea, so terror showed in its color.
So terror shows in its complexion's pallor
بَحرٌa sea تَفّجرburst forth مِنfrom لَيثَينِtwo lions مُلتَطِمٌsurging
ياO مَنwho رَأىhas seen البَحرَthe sea مِنfrom لَيثَينِtwo lions يَنفَجِرُgushes forth
A surging sea burst forth from two lions—
A sea whose twin surging waves boil and seethe
O you who have seen the sea gush from two lions!
O you who see a sea that from twin surges springs!
