Foreheads of silver, and above them
Playful sidelocks of pure gold.
توَّجنَthey were crowned مِنهُwith it وَأُرسِلَتand were let down
توَّجنَ مِنهُ وَأُرسِلَت
مِنهُfrom it إِلىto الكُثُبِthe dunes الذوائبthe tresses
مِنهُ إِلى الكُثُبِ الذوائب
With it they were crowned; and down were loosed
From it to the dunes, their tresses.
أَصداغُهُنَّtheir sidelocks مَعtogether with الذَواthe tresses (first fragment)
أَصداغُهُنَّ مَع الذَوا
ئب(completion of “tresses”) كَالأَساودِlike black snakes وَالعقاربand scorpions
ئب كَالأَساودِ وَالعقارب
Their sidelocks, together with their tresses,
Are like black snakes and scorpions.
