فيin لَحظِthe glance of طَرفِكَyour eye عَبرَةٌa tear لِسَقامِهِfor its languor
وَفَعالُهُand its deeds فِعلُthe action of الحمامdeath المُتلِفِthe destroyer
In your eye’s glance, a tear for its languor;
And its deeds are those of death, the destroyer.
فَكَأَنَّهُso it is as though it فللٌa nick بَداappeared فيin مُرهَفٍa fine-edged blade
ماضٍkeen وَلَيسَand it is not بِضائِرٍharmful لِلمُرهفِto the fine-edged blade
So it is like a nick appearing in a fine-edged blade,
Keen—and the nick does the blade no harm.
