بَدرٌ بَدا يَحمِلُ شَمساً بَدَت
وَحدُّهاand its limit فيin الحُسنِbeauty مِنfrom حِدِّهِhis limit
وَحدُّها في الحُسنِ مِن حِدِّهِ
A full moon appeared, bearing a sun that appeared;
The full moon appears, bearing a sun that has risen,
And its measure of beauty comes from his own.
Unique in beauty, perfectly made.
تَغرُبُit sets فيin فيهِhis mouth وَلَكنّهاbut it
تَغرُبُ في فيهِ وَلَكنّها
مِنfrom بَعدafter ذاthis تطلُعُit rises فيin خَدِّهِhis cheek
مِن بَعد ذا تطلُعُ في خَدِّهِ
It sets in his mouth, but
