And an Indian-steel sword that seized the eyes with its watery sheen,
And Muhand capturing eyes with his tears

As if they in their flowing tears
أَسرىmore swiftly coursing مِنthan السرَّاءِjoy فيthrough الأَرواحِthe souls بَلnay
أَسرىmore swiftly coursing مِنthan الأَرواحthe souls فيthrough الأَوصالِthe limbs
Coursing more swiftly than joy through souls—nay,

More swiftly than souls through the limbs.
Were captives from spirits in limbs
إِنif كانَthere is لِلآجالِfor appointed deaths جِسمٌa body ظاهِرٌvisible
لِلعَينِto the eye فَهوَthen it is مُجَسِّمُthe embodiment of الآجالِappointed deaths

Visible to the eye, he bodies forth the spans
