May it greet you, O Tayba, may it greet you—

the downpour of a laughing, weeping cloud.

And you have no need of rain,

for it is part of your bounty.

The sea of generosity bestowed on you what freed you from need:

the master of all creation, and your master,

Muhammad, Ahmad, the sun of guidance,

the best of creation, dwelling in your abode.

God sent him to His creation,

obeyed by celestial spheres and angels.

So he freed belief in God's oneness from its fetter,

    and bound polytheism with snares.

And he guided creation to their Lord,

with a disposition both stern and full of laughter:

in peace, more generous than the east wind's breeze,

and in battle, the deadliest of slayers,

until, through him, the faith became pure,

untainted by a habitual liar's falsehood.

Through him, Tayba, you attained all the heights of glory.

May God gladden him, and gladden you.
