I have not been visited, Abu Ali, by years of
The years of drought have not visited me, O Abu Ali
drought; I have a surplus beyond what suffices.
I have no surplus beyond sustenance
غيرَbut أنّيthat I باغيseeking جليلٍsomething great منof الأمـthe matter (word continues)
غيرَ أنّي باغي جليلٍ من الأمـ
ـرcompletion of 'matter' وعندَand from الجليلthe great one يبغىis sought الجليلُsomething great
ـر وعندَ الجليل يبغى الجليلُ
Yet I seek a matter of great consequence,
Except that I seek a noble goal
and from the great, great things are sought.
And for the noble, only the noble is sought
