And I care not if their hosts suffer
I care not if their hordes should meet
At al-Ghadhqadhunah from fever and pleurisy,
Death from spears thrust or from high fever's heat,
إِذاif اِتَّكَأتُI reclined عَلىon الأَنماطِthe patterned rugs مُرتَفِعاًraised aloft

بَدير مُرّانَ عِندي أُمُّ كُلثومِ
If I recline on patterned rugs, raised aloft,
If I recline on cushions soft and fair
At the monastery of Murran, with Umm Kulthum beside me.
With armor donned, and Umm Kulthum is there.
