أَباO father of خالِدٍKhalid قَدalready هِجتَyou stirred up حَرباًa war مَريرَةًbitter
وَقَدand already شَمَّرَتhas girded itself حَربٌa war عَوانٌrenewed فَشَمِّرِso gird yourself
O Abu Khalid, you have stirred up a bitter war.
O Abu Khalid, you have stirred a bitter war,
And a renewed war has girded itself, so gird yourself.
And a hostile war has rolled up its sleeves, so roll yours up too.
فَإِنَّfor indeed بَنيthe sons of مَروانَMarwan قَدalready زالَhas ended مُلكُهُمtheir rule
فَإِنso if كُنتَyou were لَمdid not تَشعُرyou realize بِذلِكَof that فَاِشعُرِthen realize
For the rule of the sons of Marwan has come to an end.
For the rule of the Marwanids has certainly vanished,
So if you have not realized that, then realize it.
And if you were not aware of this, then become aware!
فَمُتso die ماجِداًnobly أَوor عِشlive كَريماًhonorably فَإِنfor if تَمُتyou die
وَسَيفُكَand your sword مَشهورٌdrawn بِكَفِّكَin your hand تُعذَرِyou will be excused
So die nobly or live honorably; for if you die
So die with glory or live with honor, for if you die
with your sword drawn in your hand, you will be excused.
With your famed sword in your hand, you will be excused.
