Upon Qatari rests a debt of kindness, if for it
A kindness to Qatari if Yazeed repays it
Yazid gives recompense; otherwise, may God reward him on my behalf.
Or else may God reward me for it

They say, “Patience, Yazid, when she goes far away!”
They say have patience, O Yazeed, if it comes close
So, Lord, let me not be granted patience in loving her.
So my Lord, do not grant me patience for love of her
