وفتى كالقناةِ في الطرف منه

وفتى كالقناةِ في الطرف منه

إن تأملتَ طرفَه استرخاءُ

إن تأملتَ طرفَه استرخاءُ

And a youth like a spear-shaft—in his gaze,

The youth is like a spear in its point's flexibility

if you study his gaze, there is languor.

If you look at its point when it is at ease

فإذا الرامحُ المُشيحُ عَلاهُ

فإذا الرامحُ المُشيحُ عَلاهُ

وضعَ الرمحَ منه حيثُ يَشاءُ

وضعَ الرمحَ منه حيثُ يَشاءُ

Then, when the resolute spearman mounts him,

Then when the sharp deadly spear is raised

he places the spear in him wherever he wishes.

It can place the spear wherever it wishes
