يأبَىforbid لِيَfor me الذمَّreproach أخلاقٌvirtues ومكرمةٌand nobility
يأبَى لِيَ الذمَّ أخلاقٌ ومكرمةٌ
منّيof mine وأذنٌand an ear عنto الفحشاءِobscenity صَماءُdeaf
منّي وأذنٌ عن الفحشاءِ صَماءُ
My virtues and nobility shield me from reproach,
My nature scorns blame, and is generous and kind.
as does my ear, deaf to obscenity.
My ears turn deaf to any vile speech.
النجمthe star أقربnearer منthan سرٍa secret إذاwhen اشتمَلَتْhave enfolded
النجم أقرب من سرٍ إذا اشتمَلَتْ
منّيof mine علىaround السرthe secret أضلاعٌribs وأحشاءُand entrails
منّي على السر أضلاعٌ وأحشاءُ
The star is nearer than a secret, once
The stars are closer to me than any secret,
my ribs and entrails have enfolded that secret.
When my heart and mind envelop a secret.
