لأحداث دهري ولا المعظم

لأحداث دهري ولا المعظم

So I swore that, after that, I would not choose

I could not see the light, after her

for the vicissitudes of my days or a grave calamity,

For the events of my time, nor the glorious

خليلاً إذا أنا لم أنله

خليلاً إذا أنا لم أنله

فأمضي بعلم ولم أظلم

فأمضي بعلم ولم أظلم

a close friend if I had not won him over,

A friend, if I did not attain him

and so proceed knowingly, having done no wrong.

So I go on with knowledge, and I was not unjust
