And when I saw gray hair, its whiteness gleaming

At the parting of my head, I said to gray hair, “Welcome!”

And if I feared that, were I to withhold my greeting,

It would turn away from me, I would wish it to turn away.

But when it comes in abundance and is accepted

By the soul one day, that would better dispel aversion.
