وَالمَرءُand a man يَعجِبُmarvels مِنat صَغيرَةِa minor fault غَيرِهِof someone other than him
وَالمَرءُ يَعجِبُ مِن صَغيرَةِ غَيرِهِ
أَيُّwhat اِمرِئٍman إِلّاexcept وَفيهِand in him مَقالُgrounds for criticism
أَيُّ اِمرِئٍ إِلّا وَفيهِ مَقالُ
And a man marvels at another's minor fault.
A man wonders at the small fault of another
What man is there without grounds for criticism?
Yet what man is there without fault?
لَسناwe are not نَرىwe see مَنanyone who لَيسَis not فيهِin him غَميزَةٌa blemish
لَسنا نَرى مَن لَيسَ فيهِ غَميزَةٌ
أَيَّwhich الرِجالِthe men القائِلُthe speaker الفَعّالُthe doer
أَيَّ الرِجالِ القائِلُ الفَعّالُ
We see no one without a blemish.
We see no one who is without blemish
Which man is both a speaker and a doer?
What man is there, who says and does all?
