Welcome to the lady of eminence, glory, and noble ancestry,

Greetings to you, O noble one of high station and glory,

Scion of the illustrious, highborn al-‘Alawi.

Descendant of the honored and eminent family.

شمسٌ بدَت من سمآءِ الغرب مشرقةً

شمسٌ بدَت من سمآءِ الغرب مشرقةً

فغار ما في سَمآءِ الشرق من شُهُبِ

فغار ما في سَمآءِ الشرق من شُهُبِ

A sun appeared, shining from the western sky,

A sun has dawned from the heavens of the West shining brightly,

So all the shooting stars in the eastern sky grew jealous.

Eclipsing all the stars in the sky of the East.

جميلة الخلق والأخلاق قد بَرزَت

جميلة الخلق والأخلاق قد بَرزَت

من حليةِ الطُهر في أَبهى من الذهب

من حليةِ الطُهر في أَبهى من الذهب

Beautiful in form and character, she appeared

Of beautiful form and character you have emerged,

In purity's adornment, more splendid than gold.

Adorned with the jewel of purity more radiant than gold.

فرعٌ كريمٌ أَتَى من دوحةٍ سقَيت

فرعٌ كريمٌ أَتَى من دوحةٍ سقَيت

أَعراقُها بمياهِ الفَضل لاَ السُحُبِ

أَعراقُها بمياهِ الفَضل لاَ السُحُبِ

A noble branch sprang from a spreading tree, watered

A generous branch you are, from a tree watered

At its roots with virtue's waters, not the clouds'.

By the waters of virtue, not clouds.

نسلُ الملوك الأُلى سَادوا العبادَ وقد

نسلُ الملوك الأُلى سَادوا العبادَ وقد

شادوا الفخارَ ونالوا أَرفَع الرُتَبِ

شادوا الفخارَ ونالوا أَرفَع الرُتَبِ

Offspring of the kings who ruled the people and had

Offspring of great kings who ruled over people

Built up glory and attained the highest ranks.

And built greatness, attaining the highest ranks.

بنوا من العزِّ صرحاً عزَّ جانبُهُ

بنوا من العزِّ صرحاً عزَّ جانبُهُ

فبَات في مأمَنٍ من غارة النُوَبِ

فبَات في مأمَنٍ من غارة النُوَبِ

They built an edifice of might, its flank impregnable,

With might they built a palace, its side impregnable,

So it remained safe from the raids of calamity.

Safe from the assaults of fate.

حَازَت عَلى الشَّرف الموروث من قِدَمٍ

حَازَت عَلى الشَّرف الموروث من قِدَمٍ

وقارنَت بينَ مجد العلم والنَسبِ

وقارنَت بينَ مجد العلم والنَسبِ

She gained the honor inherited from ages past,

You have attained inherited honor from ancient times,

And united the glory of learning with that of lineage.

Combining the glory of knowledge and lineage.

قد صَاغَها اللهُ من لطفٍ ومن كَرَمٍ

قد صَاغَها اللهُ من لطفٍ ومن كَرَمٍ

وزانها بجمال الظرف والأَدَبِ

وزانها بجمال الظرف والأَدَبِ

God has fashioned her from gentleness and generosity,

God has molded you from kindness and nobility,

And adorned her with the beauty of charm and good manners.

Weighing you with the beauty of refinement and literature.

بها تباهَت نسآءُ العصر قائلةً

بها تباهَت نسآءُ العصر قائلةً

يا أُختَ خير أَخٍ يا بنت خير أَبِ

يا أُختَ خير أَخٍ يا بنت خير أَبِ

The women of the age took pride in her, saying:

The women of this age boast saying,

O sister of the best of brothers, O daughter of the best of fathers!

"O sister of the best brother, O daughter of the best father!"

فياحَمى مصر فلتهناء بعودَتِها

فياحَمى مصر فلتهناء بعودَتِها

بل يهناءُ القطر فيما نال من أَربِ

بل يهناءُ القطر فيما نال من أَربِ

So, O land of Egypt, rejoice at her return;

So congratulations O protector of Egypt, on your return,

Nay, the country rejoices in gaining what it desired.

Nay, congratulations to the country for what it has gained.

ولا تزالُ لها الأيَّام خادمةً

ولا تزالُ لها الأيَّام خادمةً

ومقلةُ السعد ترعَاها مَدَى الحُقُبِ

ومقلةُ السعد ترعَاها مَدَى الحُقُبِ

And may the days forever serve her,

May you forever have days in your service,

And may fortune's eye watch over her throughout the ages.

And the cup of joy attending you for eons to come.
