كريمةٌ من بناتِ الجودِ والكرمِ

She bestowed on us wafts of rose fragrance in words—

She gifted us the rose's breath in words

a noble woman, one of the daughters of bounty and generosity.

Noble among the generous and kind

فريدةٌ قد سمت في الناسِ واشتهرت

فريدةٌ قد سمت في الناسِ واشتهرت

الطافها بين عُربِ الأرض والعَجَمِ

الطافها بين عُربِ الأرض والعَجَمِ

Peerless, she has risen high among people, and renowned are

Unique, excelled among people and famed

her kindnesses among the earth’s Arabs and non-Arabs.

Roamed among Arabs and non-Arabs alike

فاقت على سائر الأمثالِ قاطبةً

فاقت على سائر الأمثالِ قاطبةً

بالنظمِوالنثرِ والآدابِ والشيمِ

بالنظمِوالنثرِ والآدابِ والشيمِ

She surpassed all her peers without exception,

Surpassed all women entirely

in verse and prose, refinement and character.

In prose, verse, manners and virtues

صاغت لنا من نفيسِ الشعرِ أَحسنهُ

صاغت لنا من نفيسِ الشعرِ أَحسنهُ

نظماً واجوَدَهُ في المدح والحِكَمِ

نظماً واجوَدَهُ في المدح والحِكَمِ

She fashioned for us, from precious poetry, its finest

Crafted for us the finest of poetry

verse, and its best in praise and wise sayings.

أبدت لنا السِحرَ في نظمِ البيان وقد

أبدت لنا السِحرَ في نظمِ البيان وقد

زهت وباهت نسآءَ العصرِ بالهممِ

زهت وباهت نسآءَ العصرِ بالهممِ

She revealed magic to us in eloquent verse, and indeed

Revealed to us magic in the art of rhetoric

she shone and vied with the women of the age in lofty aspirations.

And outshone contemporary women in ambition

لا زالَ طالعها بالسعد مقترناً

لا زالَ طالعها بالسعد مقترناً

ما ضآءَ بدر الدُجى في حندسِ الظلم

ما ضآءَ بدر الدُجى في حندسِ الظلم

May her rising star remain joined to good fortune,

Her fortunes with happiness remain intertwined
