قدindeed ابتسمتsmiled دارُthe house of المدوَّرِal-Mudawwar حينماwhen
قد ابتسمت دارُ المدوَّرِ حينما
أَتىcame قيصرٌQaysar أَكرِمhow noble بقيصرَis Qaysar منas a نجلِson
أَتى قيصرٌ أَكرِم بقيصرَ من نجلِ
Indeed, the house of al-Mudawwar smiled when
The abode of Al-Mudawwar smiled when
Qaysar came—how noble a son is Qaysar!
A Caesar came, honoring a Caesar of progeny
نرىwe see أَحرُفاًletters فيin طرسِthe page of تاريخهِhis chronogram بهاwith them
نرى أَحرُفاً في طرسِ تاريخهِ بها
يقالُit is said سقاكَmay He water you اللهُGod ياO ثمرَfruit of النخلthe date palms
يقالُ سقاكَ اللهُ يا ثمرَ النخل
We see letters on the page of his chronogram, with which
We see letters in the imprint of its history which say
it is said: “May God water you, O fruit of the date palms!”
May God quench your thirst, O date fruit
