The Maiden of the East emerged unveiled from her bower,

The maiden of the East appeared, radiant from the tents

as the full moon appears at midmonth.

وجآءَت بوشيٍ ما تحلَّت معاطفٌ

وجآءَت بوشيٍ ما تحلَّت معاطفٌ

بهِ وبدّرٍ ما تنظَّم في نحرِ

She came in brocade no shoulders had ever worn,

She came with good tidings, adorned in coats

and in pearls never strung upon a breast.

That had never been worn, with a full moon never arranged on a chest

تدبجّهُا أقلام أَكرم غادةٍ

تدبجّهُا أقلام أَكرم غادةٍ

كما دبَّج الروضَ الأنيق نَدَى القطر

كما دبَّج الروضَ الأنيق نَدَى القطر

The noblest maiden's pens embroider her,

Her pages were embroidered by the pens of generous authors

as dewy rain embroidered the lovely garden.

As the elegant garden was embroidered by the dew of rainfall

مجلَّة فضلٍ كلَّ فنٍّ تضمنَّت

مجلَّة فضلٍ كلَّ فنٍّ تضمنَّت

كما امتزَجَ العذبُ المبرَّد بالخمرِ

كما امتزَجَ العذبُ المبرَّد بالخمرِ

A journal of excellence, encompassing every art,

A journal of virtue, encompassing every art form

as chilled, sweet water mingles with wine.

As the sweetened, cooled wine mixes with liquor

لها الفضلُ فيما أَتحفَتنَا بهِ كَما

لها الفضلُ فيما أَتحفَتنَا بهِ كَما

علينا لَها ما تستحقُّ من الشكرِ

علينا لَها ما تستحقُّ من الشكرِ

Hers is the credit for what she has bestowed upon us, just as

She deserves credit for granting us her gifts

we owe her the gratitude she deserves.
