تَنَبَّهتِ العيون النرجسيَّه

علىنَغَمِ البلابلِ في العشيَّه

علىنَغَمِ البلابلِ في العشيَّه

The narcissus-like eyes awoke

to the nightingales' melody in the evening.

ولكن غارتِ الأَقمارُ لمَّا

ولكن غارتِ الأَقمارُ لمَّا

تجلَّى وجهُ روزا الصالحيَّه

تجلَّى وجهُ روزا الصالحيَّه

And yet the moons grew jealous when

Rosa al-Salihiyya's face shone forth.

جميلةُ منظرٍ بَرَزَت فكُنَّا

جميلةُ منظرٍ بَرَزَت فكُنَّا

نرى من وجهها الشمسَ المضيّه

نرى من وجهها الشمسَ المضيّه

Lovely to behold, she appeared, and we

saw in her face the radiant sun.

زَهَت باللطفِ في خَلقٍ وخُلقٍ

زَهَت باللطفِ في خَلقٍ وخُلقٍ

وأوصافٍ حسانٍ عنبريَّه

وأوصافٍ حسانٍ عنبريَّه

She shone with grace in form and character,

and in lovely qualities fragrant as ambergris.

أديبةُ عصرها من خيرِ قومٍ

أديبةُ عصرها من خيرِ قومٍ

لهم شرفٌ وأنسابٌ سنيَّه

لهم شرفٌ وأنسابٌ سنيَّه

Her age's woman of letters, from the finest people,

who possess honor and illustrious lineages.

تسامَوا في الملاَ أصلاً وفرعاً

تسامَوا في الملاَ أصلاً وفرعاً

وحازوا كلَّ مرتبةٍ عليَّه

وحازوا كلَّ مرتبةٍ عليَّه

They rose high among the people, in root and branch,

and attained every lofty rank.

بها افتخرت نسآءُ العصرِ لما

بها افتخرت نسآءُ العصرِ لما

رأت أخلاقها الحسنى الرضيَّه

رأت أخلاقها الحسنى الرضيَّه

In her the women of the age took pride when

they saw her fine and pleasing character.

قد اجتمعت بها غُرَرُ السجايا

قد اجتمعت بها غُرَرُ السجايا

وزان جمالَها حسنُ الطويَّه

وزان جمالَها حسنُ الطويَّه

Indeed, the choicest virtues were gathered in her,

and goodness of heart adorned her beauty.

فدامت ترتقي أوجَ الأعالي

فدامت ترتقي أوجَ الأعالي

ودامَ يصونها ربُّ البريَّه

ودامَ يصونها ربُّ البريَّه

So may she ever ascend to the loftiest heights,

and may the Lord of creation ever protect her.
