إنّindeed اِبنson of زيدونZaydun علىdespite فضلهِhis merit
إنّ اِبن زيدون على فضلهِ
يغتابنيhe backbites me ظلماًunjustly ولاand no ذنبfault ليof mine
يغتابني ظلماً ولا ذنب لي
Indeed, Ibn Zaydun, for all his merit,
The son of Zaydoun, despite his virtue
speaks ill of me behind my back unjustly, though I am blameless.
Unjustly blames me, though I've done no wrong
يلحظُنيhe looks at me شزراًaskance إذاwhen جئتهI came to him
يلحظُني شزراً إذا جئته
كأنّنيas though I جئتI came لأخصيso I may castrate عليAli
كأنّني جئت لأخصي علي
He looks at me askance when I come to him,
When I approach, his gaze darts angrily at me
as though I had come to castrate Ali.
As if I came only to attack him
