ولقد أطعتك في الذي رمتا
O heart, why do you not obey me?

Yet I have indeed obeyed you in what you sought.
Though I obeyed you in what we aimed
أناI راغبturning away عنfrom معشرa group of people غدرواthey betrayed
أنا راغب عن معشر غدروا
فعلامso why ترغبyou are drawn فيهمto them أنتاyou
فعلام ترغب فيهم أنتا
I turn away from people who betrayed,
I'm averse to a group who betrayed
so why are you drawn to them?
So why do you long for them, you
أفلاso do you not ترىyou see فيin الغدرtreachery منقصةa fault
أفلا ترى في الغدر منقصة
فتحبand so you love منthose who يرضونهthey accept it نعتاas a trait
فتحب من يرضونه نعتا
Do you see no fault in treachery,
Don't you see dishonor in betrayal
that you love those who accept it as a trait?
That you'd love those who take it as an attribute
