By God, which of us is right when complaining?
By God, who of us does right when they complain?
Say, 'I am right,' as I say, 'I am right.'
Say, "I am afflicted," as I say, "I am afflicted."
قوميrise نسائلlet us question فيin السماءthe sky نجومهاits stars
فلقدfor indeed اسائلI question بعضهاsome of them فتجيبand they answer
Rise, let us question the stars in the sky.
Let us ask the stars in the sky,
For indeed I question some of them, and they answer.
For I asked some of them, and they responded.
أرنوI gaze إلىtoward الآفاقthe horizons وهيwhile they are جوامدfrozen; motionless
ونثورand the outpourings أشجانيof my sorrows لهاto them فتذوبso they melt
I gaze toward the horizons, frozen and still.
I look to the horizons, and they are frozen,
And my sorrows pour forth to them, so they melt.
And I scatter my branches to them, and they melt.
