لِمَنwhose دِمنَةٌtraces of a campsite أَقفَرَتbecame deserted بِالجَليat al-Jalil (continued)
لِمَن دِمنَةٌ أَقفَرَت بِالجَلي
لِcompletion of al-Jalil أَنكَرتُهاI did not recognize it بَعدَafter إيناسِهاfamiliarity with it
لِ أَنكَرتُها بَعدَ إيناسِها
Whose campsite has grown desolate at al-Jalil?
For whom a footprint was left bare in the sand
I did not recognize it after knowing it well.
Because I denied it after its intimacy
كَخَطِّlike the writing of الصَحيفَةِthe page بَعدَafter الزَماtime (continued)
كَخَطِّ الصَحيفَةِ بَعدَ الزَما
نِcompletion of 'time' تَبقىremains حُلوكَةُblackness أَنقاسِهاits inks
نِ تَبقى حُلوكَةُ أَنقاسِها
Like writing on a page after time has passed,
Like the line of a page after ink
the blackness of its inks remains.
Only the sweetness of its traces remain
