Give me unmixed wine, O Zayd.
Quench my thirst, O Zayd, with a drink
Give me a drink from the large goblet.
Quench it with cool sherbet
إِسقِنيهاgive it to me to drink مُزَّةًtart تَأbegins 'seizes me'
إِسقِنيها مُزَّةً تَأ
خُذُنيcompletes 'seizes me' مِنهاfrom it اِستِدارَهa dizzy whirl
خُذُني مِنها اِستِدارَه
Give it to me tart, so I am seized—
Quench it nicely to take
—by the dizzy whirl it brings.
Me away from its heat
إِسقِنيهاgive it to me to drink كَيso that تُسَلّيit may soothe
إِسقِنيها كَي تُسَلّي
ماwhat بِقَلبيin my heart مِنof حَرارَهburning heat
ما بِقَلبي مِن حَرارَه
Give it to me, that it may soothe
Quench it so it may soothe
the burning in my heart.
