وَلَقَد قالَ طَبيبي

وَلَقَد قالَ طَبيبي

وَطَبيبي غَيرُ آلِ

وَطَبيبي غَيرُ آلِ

And indeed my physician said,

My doctor often told me

and my physician spares no effort:

Though he was no friend of mine

أُشكُ ما شِئتَ سِوى الحُبْ

أُشكُ ما شِئتَ سِوى الحُبْ

بِ فَإِنّي لا أُبالي

بِ فَإِنّي لا أُبالي

“Complain of whatever you wish, except love,

Doubt what you will, but never love

for I do not care.”

For I care not to repine

سَقَمُ الحُبِّ رَخيصٌ

سَقَمُ الحُبِّ رَخيصٌ

وَدَواءُ الحُبِّ غالي

وَدَواءُ الحُبِّ غالي

Love’s sickness is cheap,

Lovesickness may come cheap

and love’s remedy is costly.

But love's remedy is dear
