Have you two not yet learned that Salma has settled

Enclosed within a grave in the desert?

By your life, O Walid, they have indeed buried

With her noble lineage, honor, and glory,

And a face whose radiance outshone

The sun's rays—a face worthy of ransom.

So I have seen no dead person who drew more tears from an eye,

Or left more anguished mourners, or was a greater loss,

Or more deserving that you be a king beside him,

Who shows you fortitude while concealing grief.
