انّني بالبين أشقى
You who threaten me with parting, supposing
My tryst with separation, thinking
that parting makes me wretched—
That with separation I'm most miserable
ماnot أرىI see بينbetween مماتيmy death
ما أرى بين مماتي
وفراقيand my parting لكfrom you فرقاa difference
وفراقي لك فرقا
I see no difference between my death
I see no difference between my death
and my parting from you.
And my separation from you
لاdo not تهدّدنيthreaten me بشيwith anything
لا تهدّدني بشي
لستI am not منهagainst it أتوقّىguarding myself
لست منه أتوقّى
Do not threaten me with anything
Do not threaten me with anything
that I do not seek to avoid.
For I do not fear it
انماonly يشقىsuffers ببيّنfrom parting
انما يشقى ببيّن
منكfrom you منthe one who بعدكafter you يبقىremains
منك من بعدك يبقى
Only he suffers from parting
But he who remains after you
from you who lives on after you.
