خذوا بدمي ذاك الغزال فانّه

Avenge my blood upon that gazelle, for he

shot me deliberately with the two arrows of his eyes.

ولا تقتلوه اننّي أنا عبده

ولا تقتلوه اننّي أنا عبده

وفي مذهبي لا يقتل الحرّ بالعبد

وفي مذهبي لا يقتل الحرّ بالعبد

But do not kill him: indeed, I am his slave;

Yet do not kill him, for I am his slave,

and in my creed, a free man is not slain for a slave.

And in my faith, the free is not killed by the slave
