May God water a land whose name I will not reveal,
May God water a land I will not name,
for at its mention, my sorrows for it would be known—
lest my sorrows for it be known when it is mentioned;

save that it is encircled by its gardens,
save that it is surrounded by its gardens,
and its smooth-flowing rivers run through its dwellings.
and its rivers of sweet water flow among its dwellings.

As though its white palaces there, at evening,
It is as though the white palaces there at dusk
were virgin slave girls in their yellow veils.
were virgin maidens in their yellow headscarves.
