أسفري وجهاً فتاةَ العرب

أسفري وجهاً فتاةَ العرب

وافيضي منه أخلاقاً ودينا

Unveil your face, girl of the Arabs,

Reveal your face, O girl of Arabia

and let virtue and faith flow from it.

And emanate from it morals and faith

واعبثي بالحجب

واعبثي بالحجب

والزمي من دينك الحصن الحصينا

والزمي من دينك الحصن الحصينا

And make light of veils,

Unveil yourself

and hold fast to your faith's impregnable stronghold.

And hold firm to the fortress of your religion

اسفري وجهاً وصوني الخلقا

اسفري وجهاً وصوني الخلقا

في ذمارٍ من تقى

في ذمارٍ من تقى

Unveil your face, and guard your character

Reveal your face and protect morals

within a sanctuary of piety.

From the evils of impiety

إنما لحظاك لما خلقا

إنما لحظاك لما خلقا

خلقا كي يرقما

خلقا كي يرقما

Your two gazes, when they were created,

Your gaze was only created

were created only to inscribe.

To be created to shine

لو أراد اللَه أن تحتجبي

لو أراد اللَه أن تحتجبي

لابي ان يخلق اللَه العيونا

لابي ان يخلق اللَه العيونا

Had God wished you to veil yourself,

If God had willed you to be veiled

God would have refused to create eyes.

He would not have created eyes

واجهي سافرةً وجه السما

واجهي سافرةً وجه السما

والضحى المبتسما

والضحى المبتسما

Unveiled, face the face of the sky,

Reveal your face to the smiling dawn

and the smiling morning light.

And fall in love with light, shunning darkness

اعشقي النور وجافي الظلما

اعشقي النور وجافي الظلما

فالضيا ما حرما

فالضيا ما حرما

Love the light and shun the darkness,

For the light is not forbidden

for light has not been forbidden.

My Lord did not say in scriptures

ان ربي لم يقل في الكتب

ان ربي لم يقل في الكتب

ان يكون اللحظ عن نورٍ مصونا

ان يكون اللحظ عن نورٍ مصونا

Indeed, my Lord has not said in the scriptures

That a gaze upon light should be veiled

that the gaze should be shielded from light.

Acquire knowledge and righteous deeds

حصلي العلم وحسن العمل

حصلي العلم وحسن العمل

واظهري في المحفل

واظهري في المحفل

Acquire knowledge and excellence in action,

And make yourself an exalted ideal

and appear in the assembly.

With piety towards men

واجعلي نفسك أعلى مثل

واجعلي نفسك أعلى مثل

بالتقى للرجل

بالتقى للرجل

And make yourself the loftiest example

Wear the garment, the garment of manners

through piety, for men.

It is the most beautiful garment you can wear

والبسي الثوب ثوب الأدب

والبسي الثوب ثوب الأدب

انه أجمل ثوب تلبسينا

انه أجمل ثوب تلبسينا

And wear the garment—the garment of propriety;

Daughter of Zein al-Deen brandish knowledge

indeed, it is the loveliest garment you wear.

And carry it as knowledge

بنت زين الدين هزي العلما

بنت زين الدين هزي العلما

واحمليه علما

واحمليه علما

Daughter of Zayn al-Din, wave the banner,

Your army has marched as a towering army

and carry it as an emblem.

Betraying from injustice

قد مشى جيشك جيشاً عرما

قد مشى جيشك جيشاً عرما

خاذلاً من ظلما

خاذلاً من ظلما

Indeed, your army has marched, a fierce army,

Life is not pleasant for the Arabs

leaving the oppressors helpless.

Before victory smiles clearly

لا يطيب العيش عيش العرب

لا يطيب العيش عيش العرب

قبل أن ينقبلج النصر مبينا

قبل أن ينقبلج النصر مبينا

Life—the life of the Arabs—will not be sweet

O children of Arabs be upright in character

until victory dawns clear.

And ambitious in purpose

يا بني يعرب طيبوا شيما

يا بني يعرب طيبوا شيما

واستطيلوا همما

واستطيلوا همما

O sons of Ya'rub, be noble in character,

Liberate the motherland to rule nations

and let your aspirations soar.

And live gloriously

حرروا الأم تسودوا الأمما

حرروا الأم تسودوا الأمما

وتعيشوا عظما

وتعيشوا عظما

Free the mother, and you will rule the nations,

And follow in her matter the law of the Prophet

and live in greatness.

She is like you, soul and clay

واتبعوا في أمرها شرع النبي

واتبعوا في أمرها شرع النبي

إنها مثلكم روحاً وطينا

إنها مثلكم روحاً وطينا

And follow the Prophet's law concerning her;

indeed, she is like you, in spirit and clay.
