    انها تبرأ من تلك البنات

    Do not call my language the mother of languages;

    Indeed, she disowns those daughters.

My language is the noblest mother; she has not borne

For her Arab kin anything but honors.

My eye has seen no trace of ḍād

In the babbling languages of the West.

Indeed, my Lord created ḍād, and has

    Favored her with everlasting virtues.

And an aggressor from the West fell upon

    Our land with devastating invasions.

He seized the house and became its master,

And swept away sustenance and put an end to life.

He attacked ḍād, and she proved a fortress,

    Utterly steadfast against him.

A fortress that repelled his scourges, so he did not

Return with anything but unfulfilled hopes.

O Arabs, your fortress has been protected

By your Lord from the evil of those calamities.

Indeed, a day on which ḍād is wounded

Is, by God, the day of death for you.

O Arabs, if there is too little room for you

In the cities of the East because of the terror of onslaughts,

Then beware lest you lose ḍād, even if

They roll you, along with her, into the desert wastes.
