وأَنتَand you وَضَّاحُWaddah ذوpossessed of اتّبَاعِfollowing
The urgings of your longing have called you,
Your desires have called you
and you, Waddah, are one who follows.
And you follow clearly

A swaying, playful woman has called you,
A flirtatious, playful one has called you
smooth of cheek, at al-Limāʿ.
Cheeks flowing with saliva
دَلاَلُكِyour coquetry الحُلوsweet والمشهِّىand tantalizing
وَلَيسَand is not سَرِّيكِyour noble lover بالمُضّاعِneglected
Your sweet and tantalizing coquetry—
Your guide is sweetness and pleasure
and your noble lover is not to be neglected.
And your secret cannot be wasted
لاَnot اَمنَعُI restrain النَّفسَthe soul عَنfrom هَوَاهاits desire
وَكُلُّand every شَيءٍthing إِلَىtoward انقِطَاعِan end
I do not restrain the soul from its desire,
I do not prevent my soul from its passions
and everything comes to an end.
For all things come to an end
