نِمناwe slept عنheedless of الموتِdeath والمعادِand resurrection فأصْand so (beginning of 'we became')
نِمنا عن الموتِ والمعادِ فأصْ
بَحناwe became (continuation) نَظُنُّwe think اليقينَcertainty أحْلاماdreams
بَحنا نَظُنُّ اليقينَ أحْلاما
We slept, heedless of death and resurrection, and so we
We turned away from death and the return, so we
came to think certainty mere dreams.
Began to think certainty was but a dream.
فحرّكَتْناthen they roused us هذيthese الزّلازلُthe earthquakes أنْsaying
فحرّكَتْنا هذي الزّلازلُ أنْ
تيقَّظواwake up (plural) كَمhow long يَنامُsleeps منone who ناماslept
تيقَّظوا كَم يَنامُ من ناما
Then these earthquakes roused us, saying:
Then these earthquakes shook us - Wake up!
Awake! How long does one who has slept keep sleeping?
See how many sleep though they are awake.
