    The grief of one who has parted from his loved ones is not

    like the grief of one who has parted from life's solace.

    عاريَةٌ مَضمونةٌ للعُفَاهْ

    I have parted from one whose wealth, in his keeping,

    is a loan guaranteed to those who seek bounty;

    كَفَّر بِالعَفْوِ ذُنُوبَ الجُنَاهْ

    one whose fruit was sweet to the gatherer, and who

    wiped away the offenders' sins through pardon;

    dearer than the lids of my eye to

    my eye, and than a heart graced by his love.

    When we praise another noble man,

    we intend none but him in our praise.

    Who, then, equates losing this man with losing a be-

    loved one whom he forgets when that beloved is away?
