قُلSay لِلمَلُولto the easily bored one الذيwho أَعياhas exhausted تَلَوُّنُهُhis fickleness
تُرىdo you suppose مَلاَلَكyour boredom هَذاthis غيرَnot مَمْلُولِtiresome
Say to the easily bored one whose fickleness has worn me out:
Say to the one wearied by the changes of fortune
Do you suppose this boredom of yours is not itself tiresome?
Do you see that your weariness is not without end?
إذَاwhenever تَجاهلتُI overlooked عمّاwhat ساءَwas displeasing مِنهُfrom him أتَىhe committed
منof الصُّدودِturning away بذَنبٍwith an offense غيرِnot مَجهولِunknown
Whenever I overlook his hurtful conduct, he commits
When I neglect that which saddened me, he comes
An unmistakable offense by turning away.
With a sin other than that which is not unknown
وماand not جَنَىhe did wrong قطُّever إلاّexcept that جئتُI came مُعتَذِراًapologizing
إِليهِto him لكنَّbut عُذريmy apology غيرُnot مقبولِaccepted
And never has he done wrong but I have come apologizing
And I have never gathered except I came apologizing
To him—yet my apology is not accepted.
To him, but my apology is not accepted
