لكto You الحمدُpraise ياO مولايَmy Lord كمْhow many لكَYou have منّةًa favor
لك الحمدُ يا مولايَ كمْ لكَ منّةً
عليَّupon me وفضلاًand bounty لاnot يقومُdoes justice بهِto it شُكْرِيmy gratitude
عليَّ وفضلاً لا يقومُ بهِ شُكْرِي
Praise be to You, my Lord—how many favors You have bestowed
My Lord, all praise belongs to You, how much
upon me, and bounty that my gratitude cannot repay!
Grace and favor You have bestowed on me, beyond my gratitude.
نزلتُI lodged بهذاin this المسجدِmosque العامَthis year قافلاًreturning home
نزلتُ بهذا المسجدِ العامَ قافلاً
منfrom الغَزْوِbattle موفورَample النّصيبِthe share منof الأجرِthe reward
من الغَزْوِ موفورَ النّصيبِ من الأجرِ
I lodged in this mosque this year, returning
I arrived at this great mosque from a raid
from battle, with an ample share of reward.
With abundant spoils and ample reward.
ومنهُand from it رحلتُI saddled العِيسَthe pale camels فيin عامِيَmy year الَّذيwhich
ومنهُ رحلتُ العِيسَ في عامِيَ الَّذي
مضَىpassed نحوَtoward بيتthe House اللهِof God ذيwith الرِّكنِthe Corner والحجْرِand the Hijr enclosure
مضَى نحوَ بيت اللهِ ذي الرِّكنِ والحجْرِ
And from it I saddled the pale camels in that year of mine which
From here I journeyed the next year
has passed, toward God's House, with its Corner and the Hijr enclosure.
Towards Allah's House of the Black Stone and Corner.
فأدّيتُso I fulfilled مفروضِيmy obligation وأسقَطْتُand I cast off ثِقْلَthe weight ماwhat
فأدّيتُ مفروضِي وأسقَطْتُ ثِقْلَ ما
تحمَّلْتُI had borne منof وِزْرِsin السّنينَthe years علىupon ظَهْرِيmy back
تحمَّلْتُ من وِزْرِ السّنينَ على ظَهْرِي
So I fulfilled my obligation and cast off the weight of what
I performed my duties and unloaded the burden
I had borne of the sins of years upon my back.
Of years that weighed upon my back.
