    ومَن مواهِبُهُ كالعَارِض الهَطِلِ

    O you who count wealth a trifle among what you bestow,

    And your gifts are like a cloud pouring rain;

    And when you give the world to one who hopes in you,

    Those who know you say, 'Far be stinginess from you!'

    And when you unsheathe the gleaming, keen-edged swords in the

    battle, you lodge them in skulls and crowns.

    I used to bow when calamity struck; but since

    you were put in charge, O Nasr, calamity has come to bow to me.

    Moreover, I have hopes in you, and my belief in

    your eminence is that you will bring me to all I hope for.
