يا بعيداً أحلّه الشْ
شَوقُlonging قَلبِيmy heart ونَاظِريand my eye
شَوقُ قَلبِي ونَاظِري
O distant one, given a home by
O you who's absence my heart's longing made sweet,
longing in my heart and my eye.
And my eyes' vision constantly keep,
ماnot نَأىhas gone far away مَنone whose خيَالُهhis image
ما نَأى مَن خيَالُه
حَاضرٌpresent فيin ضَمائِريmy innermost thoughts
حَاضرٌ في ضَمائِري
No one is far away whose image
He who's phantom is never far,
is present in my innermost thoughts.
But present and clear in my thoughts evermore,
والتّنائِيand separation إذاwhen صَفَاis pure
والتّنائِي إذا صَفَا
وُدّنَاour love غيرُnot ضَائِرharmful
وُدّنَا غيرُ ضَائِر
And separation, when
And longing, when pure,
our love is pure, does no harm.
Is never a loss, but a gain.
