منصورُMansur دارُكَyour home أضْحَتْhas become منكَwithout you مُوحِشَةًdesolate
قدindeed أقْفرتْhas become deserted بعدafter سُكّانٍinhabitants وجِيرانِand neighbors
Mansur, your home has grown desolate without you.
The home where you dwelled has become desolate without you
It stands deserted, its inhabitants and neighbors gone.
It is empty now of inhabitants and neighbors
أضحَىhas now become الّذيthat which كانwas منهاfrom it أمسِyesterday أضْحَكَنيmade me laugh
وسرّنيand delighted me هاجَstirred أشْجانِيmy sorrows وأبكانيand made me weep
Now what in it made me laugh yesterday
What used to make me laugh and bring me joy yesterday
And delighted me has stirred my sorrows and made me weep.
Now stirs my troubles and makes me weep
عهدْتُهاI knew it نادِياًa meeting place للّهوِfor pleasure مجتَمَعاًa gathering place
للأُنْسِfor fellowship مَلْعَبَa playground أترابٍpeers وَوِلدانِand children
I knew it as a meeting place for pleasure, a gathering place
I knew it as a place where people gathered for fun
For fellowship, a playground for peers and children.
A playground for friends and little children
فأصبحَتْso it has become ماnot بِهاin it مماof what عهِدتُI knew بِهَاin it
سِوَىexcept صدىًan echo كُلّماwhenever ناديتُI called لبّانِيanswered me
So now there is nothing in it of what I once knew there
But now there is nothing left that I knew
Except an echo that answers me whenever I call.
Except an echo whenever I call out longing for you
