ألاListen! أبلِغَاconvey, you two عنّيon my behalf أٌناساًpeople صحبتُهمْI kept company with them
فماfor ... not حَفِظواthey kept عهداًa pledge ولاnor رَاعَوُاthey respected الوُدّاaffection
Listen, you two: tell those I kept company with, on my behalf—
Tell those with whom I once kept company,
for they kept no pledge and showed no regard for affection—
For they observed no pact nor fostered love,
بأنّيthat I وإنand even though حَالتchanged بيَfor me الحالُthe circumstances لمdid not أقُلْI say
لهمْto them واصِفاًdescribing شَوقاًlonging ولاnor شَاكياًcomplaining of وَجْدَاanguish
that, though my circumstances have changed, I have not said
That though my state is changed, I never told
to them, describing my longing or complaining of my anguish:
Of yearning for them, or complained of pain.
خذُواtake hold بِزمَامِيof my reins قدhave (marking completion) رجَعْتُI returned إليكُمُto you
رجوعَthe return of مُريدٍone who longs لاnot يَرىhe sees منكُمُapart from you بُدّاa way of doing without
"Take hold of my reins; I have returned to you,
Take up my reins! I now return to you,
as one who longs for you and sees no way to do without you."
As one who seeks but finds no way but yours.
ولكِنْand yet ليَI have الأَعواضُreplacements فيamong النّاسِpeople منكُمُin place of you
وكلُّand every سَماءٍsky منthan سمائِكُمُyour sky أندَىmore generous with rain
But among people I have others to take your place,
I have but compensation from other men,
and every sky is more generous with rain than yours.
While every heaven of yours is fresh with dew.
