إنif يستُرواthey veil وجْهَthe face of إحسانيmy kindness بكُفرهِمُwith their ingratitude
إن يستُروا وجْهَ إحساني بكُفرهِمُ
فالشَّمسُfor the sun أدنىthe slightest سحابٍcloud عَنَّappears يَستُرُهاveils it
فالشَّمسُ أدنى سحابٍ عَنَّ يَستُرُها
If they veil the face of my kindness with their ingratitude,
If they veil the face of my kindness with their ingratitude
Even the slightest cloud that appears veils the sun.
The sun is nearer any cloud that would veil it
وإنand if هُمُthey كدّرواthey cloud صفويmy serenity بغشِّهِمُwith their deceit
وإن هُمُ كدّروا صفوي بغشِّهِمُ
فالعينُfor the spring أدنىthe smallest القذىspeck of debris فيهاin it يكدِّرُهاclouds it
فالعينُ أدنى القذى فيها يكدِّرُها
And if they cloud my serenity with their deceit,
And if they trouble my sincerity with their deceit
Even the smallest speck within a spring clouds it.
The eye is nearer any mote that would trouble it
