I shall surely bear my fate with the patience of one seeking divine reward,

Until it sees something other than what it had expected.

And I shall brave death in facing whatever calamities bring,

So that adversity may know that I do not fear it.

If its calamities contend with me over my wealth,

Then my steadfast patience in hardship will overcome it.

Or if you drive me away from my family and my homeland,

Then the farthest hoped-for relief is the nearest.

And time tears down what it builds, and extinguishes what

it kindles, and sends far away what its changes bring near.
