I praised gray hair throughout my long life,

though I committed many sins in it,

لأنّيbecause I حييتI lived إلىuntil أنthat لقيmet (continued in line 4)
لأنّي حييت إلى أن لقي

ت بعد العدو صديقاً حبيبا
for I lived until I met
Because I have lived long enough to meet
a beloved friend after the enemy.
