The thunderstorm’s rain vies, whenever I remember you,
When I remember you, the water of al-Razm vies in abundance with
with my tears—but that is cold, while these are molten copper.
my tears; but this is cool, and these are molten copper.

Had I not, since your departure, lent them to everyone who wept,
And had I not lent them, after your departure, to everyone who wept,
I would hold them too great for rain itself to rival.
the rain would deem them too great for it to rival in abundance.
