لِي وتَعْمَى عن حازمٍ محدودِ

Fortune favors the incapable man, and he rises

high, while it is blind to a capable but luckless man.

في اعتلاءِ الشّرارِ عن راكِدِ الجم

في اعتلاءِ الشّرارِ عن راكِدِ الجم

رِ دليلٌ أنَّ العُلا بالجُدودِ

رِ دليلٌ أنَّ العُلا بالجُدودِ

In the sparks’ ascent above the motionless embers

lies proof that eminence comes through good fortune.
