ولاnor أجَالَتْكِturned you over خَلْواتِيmy hours of solitude بأفكاريin my thoughts
O Egypt, you never passed through my imagination or my mind,
nor did my hours of solitude bring you into my thoughts.
ماnot أنتِyou أوّلُthe first أرضٍland مسَّtouched تُربَتَهاits soil

You are not the first land whose soil was touched
by my body, nor are my homelands and my desires in you.
