لا تستكِنْ للهَمِّ واثْنِ جِماحَه

لا تستكِنْ للهَمِّ واثْنِ جِماحَه

بعزيمةٍ في الخَطبِ لا تَتَضَعْضَعُ

بعزيمةٍ في الخَطبِ لا تَتَضَعْضَعُ

Do not yield to sorrow, and curb its unruliness

With resolve that does not falter in adversity.

فإذا أتى ما لَيس يُدفعُ فالْقَهُ

فإذا أتى ما لَيس يُدفعُ فالْقَهُ

بالصّبر فهْوَ دَواءُ مالا يُدفَعُ

بالصّبر فهْوَ دَواءُ مالا يُدفَعُ

And when what cannot be averted comes, meet it

With patience, for it is the remedy for what cannot be averted.
