لاdo not تَخضَعَنْsubmit رَغَباًout of desire ولاnor رَهَباًout of fear فَمَاfor none الْthe
لا تَخضَعَنْ رَغَباً ولا رَهَباً فَمَا الْ
مَرْجُوُّone hoped for والمَخْشِيُّand the one feared إلاّexcept اللهُGod
مَرْجُوُّ والمَخْشِيُّ إلاّ اللهُ
Do not submit out of desire or fear, for none
Yield not to wish or dread, for what's decreed
is hoped for or feared but God.
The wish'd, the fear'd, alike should God precede
ماwhat قَدalready قضاهُdecreed it اللهُGod مالَكَyou have no منany يَدٍhand; power
ما قَد قضاهُ اللهُ مالَكَ من يَدٍ
بِدِفاعِهِto avert it وسِواهُand anything besides it لاdo not تخشاهُfear it
بِدِفاعِهِ وسِواهُ لا تخشاهُ
What God has decreed, you have no power
What's doom'd by God, no hand has pow'r to ward;
to avert; and fear nothing else.
His destined course; guard not thyself too hard
