لاdo not تَرْتَجِput your hope in الخلقَpeople فالأبوابُfor the doors مُرْتَجَةٌshut
لا تَرْتَجِ الخلقَ فالأبوابُ مُرْتَجَةٌ
دُونَbarring access to الحُطامِworldly wealth (literally, chaff) وبابُand the door of اللّهِGod مفتوحُopen
دُونَ الحُطامِ وبابُ اللّهِ مفتوحُ
Do not put your hope in people, for the doors are shut,
Do not knock on people's doors, for doors are open
barring the way to worldly wealth, while God's door is open.
Except for the door of ruin, while God's door is wide open
والرِّزَقُand sustenance لوif كانwere فيin أيديthe hands of الأنامِhumankind أبَوْاthey would refuse
والرِّزَقُ لو كان في أيدي الأنامِ أبَوْا
أنْto يشرَبَdrink الماءَthe water مِنْfrom طُوفانِهhis flood نوحُNoah
أنْ يشرَبَ الماءَ مِنْ طُوفانِه نوحُ
And if sustenance were in people's hands, they would refuse
If sustenance were in people’s hands, Noah would have had
to let Noah drink water from his flood.
No water to drink from the flood he withstood
لكنَّهُbut it فيin يَدَيْthe two hands of مَنْthe One who فضلُهHis bounty أبداًforever
لكنَّهُ في يَدَيْ مَنْ فضلُه أبداً
للطائعينَto the obedient وللعاصينَand to the disobedient مَمْنوحُbestowed
للطائعينَ وللعاصينَ مَمْنوحُ
But it is in the hands of One whose bounty is forever
But sustenance is in the hands of Him whose favor
bestowed upon the obedient and the disobedient.
Is eternal, granted to obedient and disobedient alike
